Hendrick GOLTZIUS (Mulbrecht 1559 - Haarlem 1617) "The division between the Blessed and the Damned" Original round engraving, temporally attributable to 1577, from a subject by Giovanni Stradano, is the second panel of the series of four subjects dedicated to the Last Judgment . Beautiful copy in the first state of two with the address of Philip Galle, printed on a portion of thin laid paper bearing a fragment of the filigree "Arme con tre Gigli (Arme di Francia) and letter C", Briquet 1725 and following, typical of French paper production of the 16th century, trimmed inside the impression of the slab without leaks, slightly burnished and with slight traces of ancient gluing on the verso but overall in excellent general condition. Bibliography: Baroni Vannucci "Jan van der Straet ..."
